Eljero Elia, the 39-year-old former footballer, talks about his warm bond with FC Twente. He says that he always gets a smile on his face when he thinks about the club. 'They are great people and great supporters. If you give everything and go all out, they always stand behind you one hundred percent. I can say nothing bad about FC Twente. I don't go there often, but when I do, it feels like home to me', Elia tells Twente Insite. Next season, FC Twente will face ADO Den Haag, Elia's current club, in the Eredivisie. The Hague club was crowned champion of the Keuken Kampioen Divisie last season. After five seasons on the second level, the Hagenezen are back in the Eredivisie. 'I'll try to look, but I'm not someone who goes to the stadium.' He would, however, like to make an exception. 'If it's out at FC Twente, I think it's nice to go. To go by people where I have nice memories. The traditional match against FC Schalke 04 remains very special. FC Twente is a special case. The warmth I felt there, I've only felt it at two clubs: FC Twente and Feyenoord.' 'In the foreign land, they don't look at what kind of person you are. Then they treat you differently, while at FC Twente they have valued me in my worth. I really appreciated that. They are nice people. There is no evil or jealousy in them. They always have the best intentions for you. That's the feeling I've always had at FC Twente', Elia says.
